Rosina hummed quietly to herself as she sat on a fallen driftwood tree on First Beach. Her family had spent the day in La Push, mainly on the beach but her Dad had headed into La Push to talk to some guy named Billy Black and some of the other Quileutes. His kid Jacob had came down for a little while but only long enough she'd learned his name before he disappeared in the woods that led to the rock pools. It had been a good day in all and while the rest of the family were at the Blacks talking she'd driven herself down to the beach in the family car to relax. It had been a sunny day and it wasn't rainy or cloudy yet so she was dry and could stare up at the stars. She lay back on the log to gaze at the night sky.

Jacob felt kind of bad about having left so quickly after the Brooks came to visit his family. He had no choice, though, as he was meeting with Sam and the others to discuss something. They'd meant to do it at his house, but couldn't after Rosina and her family had arrived.
Well now the meeting was over and he was going to make amends for leaving her there like that. He knew she was a new kid and probably hadn't made so many friends in the time she'd been there. He knew very well that the kids over in Forks didn't make it all that easy on the new kids. It'd been like this for Bella (or so she had said) and Gabrielle. Now the same thing probably happened to Rosina.
He found her laying on the beach, her eyes closed and her face turned up towards the sky. He approached her sheepishly and smiled. "Hey... Rosina, right?"

Rosina's eyes flashed open and she sat up, "oh yeah it is," she replied and smiled back a little. She tucked her hair behind her ears before she asked a question of her own, "what are you doing here so late?" She asked. She hadn't expected anyone else to visit the beach at night that was one of the reasons why she'd went to First Beach.

He smiled and sat down next to her. "No reason, just thought I'd take a walk. I was going to go into Forks to visit somebody, but I figured that could wait until morning." He looked down at her. The height difference was apparent even when sitting. "But I could ask you the same question. What're you doing out here so late? Shouldn't you be at home or with your parents or something?"

Rosina shrugged, "my little sister and brother were driving me crazy so I drove down here to relax," she answered. She was used to people being taller then her...not as tall as Jacob but still most people she knew were taller then her now. She'd been quite tall when she was younger as well.

He laughed cheerily, scratching the back of his neck. "I used to drive my older sisters insane. I'm the youngest, so I got that privilage. Its nice sometimes, but then they would get back in the most cruel ways. When I was around six, they captured me and made me wear a dress. Scarring, I tell you."

Rosina couldn't help but laugh, "sorry, that's really funny though but if I got my little sister back she'd find away to get me back for that but worse," she replied when she calmed down.

He shook his head, an unrestrainable smile playing across his tanned face. "I'm sure that's not too fun. My sisters are all gone now, thankfully. I don't have anybody to dump water on in the morning anymore, though. I'd do it to my dad, but well... yeah, that'd just be mean. Sisters are more fun to torment, anyway. It's funny to hear them scream in the morning after dumping a bucket of icy water on them. I tell you, they both had the vocal chords of large cats."

Rosina laughed again, "my little sister does as well, I've dumped water on her before to wake her up and lets say I ended up with a very sore nose," she replied and winced at the memory. The grin was constant on her face now, she hadn't been able to enjoy talking to someone since she moved.

He winced and laughed. "Ow, did she hit you or something? Oh god. The most my sisters did was spank me as hard as they could. Well, they did when they could catch me. I was a pretty fast child." He looked at her, his eyes warm. "But I love my sisters. They're not nearly as strange and weird as I used to think they were."

Rosina nodded, "Be glad you were fast, I'm really slow," she replied. She watched Jacob as he talked about his sisters, "well even if siblings are annoying, or weird or whatever you can't help but love them," she replied as she turned her head to stare at the sea.

He nodded, silent for a few minutes. "So," he said, turning his head to look at her, "made any friends in Forks?" He looked from her to the dark ocean water, listening to the crashing of the waves against the cliffs a ways off. He closed his eyes, waiting for her response. She didn't seem like the kind of person who just got up and walked over to random people and strike up a conversation, although she was a very nice girl.

Rosina replied, "kind of, there's this one girl I've been getting on alright with." She picked a pebble up from the ground and chucked it into the sea...sort of. It hit the just leaving tide and was carried off.

"Really?" He opened his eyes and looked at her. "Who is it? I might know her." The chances were unlikely, he knew, but it was worth a shot talking about. He was running out of things to say. "Although, then again, I might not, seeing as how I don't socialize with people much over in Forks unless I have to. There are some people there I try and avoid."

Rosina nodded, "her name's Gabrielle," she replied as she tucked the strand of hair that had fallen into her face back behind her ear. She wasn't much of a socialite.

Jacob smiled. It sounded just like Gabrielle, and thinking back he felt stupid for not realizing it was her right away. "If it's the Gabrielle I'm thinking of, I'm not surprised. She's just that kind of person, always making friends with the new kids. But," he sighed, "she doesn't have much luck with the people who've been here forever. She's a great girl." He looked at her. "She's a good friend."

Rosina turned back to Jacob, the smile had returned to a neutral expression, "she's more then a good friend to you...it's easy to tell," she replied bluntly. Due to her love of romance she found it easy to tell when people liked eachother from the subtlest of things.

Jacob laughed. She was more observant than he thought. "Well... yeah. You caught me." He looked at her, his lips turned up in a smile. "That doesn't mean I didn't I wasn't being honest. She's always been a nice person. Just don't get on her bad side, that's when she becomes Super Bitch. It's kind of funny, really." He looked back out over the ocean. "So she's the only one you've made friends with?"

Rosina nodded, "I know you meant what you said and yeah she's the only person I've really talked to," she replied. Why do all guys I actually like always like someone else...oh well life sucks I should know that by now she thought. She looked up at the night sky, stars are like hopes I guess, all lit up but not always there.
